I would think you should only switch when your comfortable with the combat SP you have. Industrial skills are always useful, melting loot ect, and some of the things leading into barges and exhumers are not wasted. So don't be afraid to diversify ...

Train Salvage to III also, as it lets you salvage good wrecks and gets you better odds of salvage bang for your buck. Doesn't take long either.
